Alebrijes in Art

This semester in art we worked on learning to recognize underlying shapes and forms in nature and photographic images. Using this skill, students created their own “alebrijes” combining parts of animals into their own unique creatures. In West, students even opted to make their alebrijes into sculptures, and we worked on building the creatures out of recycled materials, paper mache, and painting!
